Junior Legal Assistant:

This position will work very closely with other legal assistants supporting attorneys specializing in intellectual property matters. The Junior Legal Assistant will support assistants in all aspects of legal case preparation and file management from commencement through granting of patents, copyrights or trademarks. As a key member of the team, candidate must be able to independently perform a variety of complex duties with limited supervision. This position will also serve as a backup customer service representative.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Draft routine or complex legal documents for review and use by attorneys
  • Process the daily mail
  • Draft and track correspondence and documents,
  • Maintain accurate records both electronically and physically
  • Conduct legal research as needed and directed
  • Provide backup support to the primary customer service representative


Job Requirements :

Candidates must demonstrate a high attention to detail and have 1-5+ years’ progressively responsible experience. College Degree is preferred.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Possess strong organizational skills and ability to pay very close attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel as well as Adobe Products. PowerPoint experience is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated understanding of correct grammar.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, multi-task efficiently and be an independent thinker.
  • Ability to perform effectively with little or no supervision and within established time limits and ongoing deadlines.

Legal Assistant:

Qualifications for the position include:

  • Strong attention to detail, the ability to edit large documents and complete detailed forms accurately
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and multi-task including maintaining a docket, tracking correspondence and documents, and maintaining accurate records both electronically and physically.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and ability to learn new computer programs quickly
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced and challenging environment
  • Team player and the ability to collaborate in cross-institutional groups.
